Shaped Magnet Wire

MWS Wire / Shaped Magnet Wire

Why use shaped magnet wire over round magnet wire?

Shaped magnet wire lends itself to specific applications where the precise geometry of the coil is critical to its function. In addition to round magnet wire, MWS can produce rectangular magnet wire and as well as square and Microsquare Magnet Wire®.

Rectangular Magnet Wire

MWS Wire Industries is a custom producer of film insulated rectangular magnet wire. MWS has the capability to produce larger transformer wires in sizes up to .400″ in width down to the smaller insulated ribbon with a thickness starting around .001″ and typically found in pancake coils. With a variety of enamels to choose from and low quantity minimums, MWS can meet your custom insulated ribbon wire needs.

Square Magnet Wire

Square magnet wire is useful where space constraints are concerned. When formed into a coil an equivalent amount of square wire put in a coil can be placed in a tighter coil configuration than the same amount of round wire. This enables engineers to create compact coils and small motors that deliver more power in less space.
