From your specific needs to a complete wire solution.

At MWS Wire Industries, ordering wire begins with a conversation. Whether you start with a precise wire type in mind, a detailed print, a UNS or ASTM specification, or simply an end-use challenge, we will help translate your needs into a dependable wire solution that works for you and your downstream processes.

The first step: Defining the need.

Already know exactly what you need?  No problem. MWS is both a wire manufacturer and a distributor, which allows us to support a wide range of wire solutions. We stock many common wire types in multiple tempers and insulation types. When an off-the-shelf material is not the right answer, we can produce wire specifically for your application.

What are the different ways to order wire from MWS Wire?

We are flexible because customers do not all begin with the same level of detail. You can order wire from MWS in several ways:

  • Order by wire product name. If you already know the material, construction, temper, insulation, or size you need, we can help identify available inventory or arrange production.
  • Provide a print. If you have an engineering drawing, we can manufacture wire to the stated dimensions, materials, tolerances, and performance criteria.
  • Share mechanical or electrical requirements. If you know requirements such as tensile strength, resistance value, dielectric strength, or temperature performance, we can recommend a specific alloy and insulation or design a product that fits.
  • Wire by Application. You know your application and we know our wire. MWS has the knowledge and experience to assist you in choosing the best wire solution – combining your expertise with ours.
  • Reverse Engineering.  Do you need a specific type of wire that you can’t find anywhere else?  Your search ends with us! We can provide a material analysis as well as measuring the wire’s electrical and mechanical properties in our quality lab to find a wire solution that meets or exceeds the original.

For example, a customer may know only that their wire will operate in a high-heat environment and must maintain a specific dielectric strength. We can help evaluate appropriate insulation systems, heat classes, and testing requirements rather than asking the customer to begin with a complete material specification.

What are the common wire challenges MWS solves for customers every day?

Wire requirements often evolve with new and emerging technologies. A drawing may contain legacy callouts, a product may face increased current demand, or a new operating environment may introduce heat, chemical exposure, moisture, or other hazards that could lead to operational failure.

MWS helps customers address common challenges such as:

  • Updating legacy blueprints or requirement lists with current, practical recommendations.
  • Upsizing wire gauge to support changed electrical or mechanical requirements.
  • Recommending alternative plating or insulation based on heat class, dielectric strength, corrosion resistance, or environmental exposure.
  • Aligning the wire design with downstream processing needs, including winding, soldering, terminating, and automated handling.

At MWS, the goal is not merely to supply wire that matches a document, it is to supply wire that performs reliably in the finished product.

What are some of the Value Added Services MWS provides?

MWS can provide services that make wire easier to use in your production process. Depending on the application, wire may be straightened, cut to discrete lengths, laser ablated at specified locations, or wound onto custom spools.

We also offer a broad range of shipping and spool configurations. Spools can hold from a few grams of fine-diameter wire to up to 300 lbs. for continuous use applications. Available formats include straight or bi-conical flanges and tapered barrels designed for high-speed de-reeling. For specialized precision applications, wire can be supplied on bobbins.

For customers managing repeat production, MWS can also ship specified quantities through a Kanban system to support a more consistent material flow.

More than just quality assurance:  How does our quality lab support our customers?

Quality assurance is integral to how we support our customers. MWS maintains a quality laboratory capable of testing to industry standards, including NEMA MW 1000 and ASTM requirements, as well as customer-specific criteria.

Our lab-based analysis can include:

  • Physical and dimensional measurement, including laser micrometer and cross-section analysis.
  • Mechanical testing, such as tensile, yield, stress/strain, and break-strength evaluation.
  • Electrical testing, including DC resistance, dielectric strength, capacitance, impedance, insulation continuity, cure completeness, and temperature coefficient of resistance.
  • Custom testing based on customer needs or application requirements

Relationships built for the long term.

At MWS, our purpose is tied directly to the long-term success of the customers who use our wire. We build sustainable, repeatable relationships through responsive service, practical technical guidance, and consistent product quality.

When you work with MWS, you gain more than a wire supplier. You gain a collaborative partner focused on helping your product perform – from the first specification discussion through delivery and beyond. Learn more about our ordering process or contact us directly to start the conversation.
